Chieftain of Haqqani Network, the most feared Taliban insurgent groups, Jalaludin Haqqani was admired and glorified as "Goodness Personified" by West and the Islamic World during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.
In the 1980s, Jalaluddin Haqqani was cultivated as a "unilateral" asset of the CIA and received tens of thousands of dollars in cash from US for his work in fighting the Soviet Army in Afghanistan.
The influential US Congressman and the first civilian to receive the Honored Colleague Award by the CIA, Charlie Wilson, who helped to direct tens of millions dollars to the Afghan resistance, was so enamored of Jalaluldin Haqqani that he referred to him as "Goodness Personified".
