Pakistan to block Social-Network Sites: Rehman Malik

Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that if Social-Network Sites, such as Facebook, YouTube, Google, and Twitter do not help the Pakistan Government, then Pakistan reserves the right to block these services to prevent criminal elements from using it.

During his visit to the FIA Headquarters, the Interior Minister urged the social-networking service providers to extend their help to the government for having a better law and order situation in the country and also for exterminating the menace of terrorism from the country.

Rehman Malik said the government would be compelled to block certain social-networking service provider’s sites, such as Facebook, YouTube, Google, and Twitter, if they did not extend cooperation to the government.

Interior Minister said that criminals and terrorist organisations were sharing intelligence through internet and curbing these activities was imperative.
