The President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Asma Jehangir, said history proves that it was the founding of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) that pioneered extortion in Pakistan and especially Karachi.
During proceedings of the Karachi Violence Suo Moto Case, Asma Jehangir said that history proves that about three decades ago, there was no concept of extortion in Pakistan, and it was the founding of Muhajir Qaumi Movement (Now Muttahida Qaumi Movement) that pioneered extortion in Pakistan and especially Karachi. She added that this party has a huge terrorist network which has been creating havoc for the last thirty years, but no action was taken against them.
