Police performs poorly in Uniform

The Punjab Police has discovered the cause of their Traditional Poor Performance, that is their Black-Colored Uniform.

Inspector General of Punjab Police Haji Habeebur Rehman said that it was the Dark Uniform which makes them "Grumpy", the main reason of their Poor Performance.

This color absorbs more Heat and that is why the Police are twice as Hot-Headed, Rehman said.

Cheap Bengalis lost appeal in Asian Cricket Council

The Asian Cricket Council has rejected a plea filed by "Cheap" Bangladesh Cricket Board to Review a Delivery bowled in the Last Over of the Asia Cup Final against Pakistan at Mirpur.

The Asian Cricket Council Chief Executive Ashraful Haq said that Bangladesh was "Too Late" in filing the appeal as they should have filed their complaint to the Field Umpire or the Match Referee during the Match.

Ashraf said that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) cannot accept Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)’s application anymore.

Earlier Cheap Bengalis appealed to the ACC to review a Delivery bowled the Last Over of the Match, accusing Pakistani Pacer Aizaz Cheema of deliberately blocking batsman Mahmudullah Riyadh from taking a Second Run.

West Pakistan prevails on Sher-e-Bengal Day

West Pakistan prevailed over gutsy East Pakistan to become Asian Cricket Champion on Sher-e-Bengal Day (Lahore Resolution Day) at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium Mirpur.

After a nail-biting performance from both sides, Pakistan (Formerly West Pakistan) managed to bowl out the panicked Bangladesh (Formerly East Pakistan) in the final overs of the game.

However, when their gut-wrenching disappointment dies down, Bangladesh will remember that they were just one stroke away from becoming Asian Cricket Champion. And see it as clinching evidence of their progress. When their sense of relief passes, Pakistan will remember that they were tested to the hilt, but came through somehow. And see it as confirmation of their renowned ability to win the big moments.

But for a moment, Bangladesh will be gutted; that they had again lost a Tournament Final, this time by a margin of two runs and previously by two wickets to Sri Lanka in 2009.

If Imran resembles Gaddafi then Satan resembles Rushdie

Satanic Author Salman Rushdie ridiculed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, who pulled out of a Scheduled Speech at India Today Conclave Conference due to Rushdie's presence.

Rushdie drew gasps of surprise from the India Today Conclave Audience by asking: "Have you noticed the physical resemblance between Imran Khan and (Slain Libyan Dictator Muammar) Gaddafi?"

"If you were making a Movie of the Life of Qaddafi and you wanted a slightly better-looking version of Gaddafi you might cast Imran Khan," Rushdie said with a grin. "He would need to act of course, which would be a problem".

However, it seems, Rushdie haven't noticed that he resembles "Satan" and if someone needs to make a movie about Satan, he might cast Rushdie.

PPP used Intelligence Bureau Funds to Conquer Punjab

There is a new twist to Old Tale of Misappropriating Funds, as it has been revealed that Pakistan Peoples Party led Federal Governments have used Intelligence Bureau's Secret Funds time and again for fulfilling their desire to conquer Punjab or to save Federal Governments.

During the proceedings of Asghar Khan Petition (Mehrangate Scandal), the Supreme Court of Pakistan took notice of a report that the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party led Governments withdrew Multi-Dozen Million of Rupees from the Intelligence Bureau Secret Fund repeatedly in 1989, 1990 and 2008, i.e. Rs 100 Million in 1989-1990 and Rs 270 Million in 2008.

It has been reported that that the ruling PPP used the misappropriated money to push its Political Agenda in Punjab, where the Government had been formed by rival Pakistan Muslim League.

According to details, Intelligence Bureau Director Major (Retired) Masood Sharif Khattak (Now in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) withdrew over Rs 100 million from Intelligence Bureau’s Secret Funds from 1989 to 1990, when a No Confidence Motion was brought against the Then Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto, for the General Elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, saving the North West Frontier Province (Now Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa) Government, and to bring down rival Punjab Government.

The amount was distributed to various Party Leaders and Functionaries, despite the fact that IB’s Secret Funds can only be used to obtain or uncover sensitive information necessary to protect "National Interest".

Misappropriations in 1988-89

According to the available documents, Rs 3.2 million were allocated for IB's Secret Works in the approved Budget of 1988-89, but Rs15.284 million were approved as Supplementary Grant.

Of this Supplementary Grant, Rs 4.084 million were allocated for "Sniffing" purposes, while the remaining amount, Rs 11.2 million, was given by Then Intelligence Bureau Joint Director Major (Retired) Masood Sharif Khan to the Then Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat Mohibullah Shah on 14th April 1989. Almost two months later, on 15th June 1989, Rs 5 million were paid to Then Chief Minister North West Frontier Province (Now Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa) Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao. Receiving Receipts for both these Transactions are available in the Bureau's Record.

Misappropriations in 1989-90

In the 1989-1990 Budget, Rs5.8 million were allocated for IB’s Formal Works but between October 1989 and June 1990, a Massive Amount of Rs 124.3 million was given to the IB as a Supplementary Grant, allegedly for Managing Political Crisis, i.e No Confidence Motion against the Then Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

The Supplementary Grant came in seven tranches – Rs 20 million on 16th October 1989, Rs 50 million on 26th October 1989, Rs 2.5 million on 10th February 1990, Rs 13 million on 19th March 1990, Rs 20 million on 10th April 1990, Rs 10 million on 6th May 1990 and R 8.8 million on 14th June 1990.

Of these, only two Tranches Amounting to Rs 28.8 million, in April and June 1990, were given for the Agency’s Routine Affairs. The remaining, Rs 95.5 million, had been withdrawn with orders from the Prime Minister Secretariat.

Some prominent names feature among the recipients of the Rs 95.5 million Distributed for Politicking are as follows.

The Then NWFP (Now Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa) Chief Minister, Sherpao, received another Rs10 million on 25th October 1989 through Malik Waris Khan, in the name of the Agency Chief. A day later, on 26th October, the Then Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Major General (Retired) Naseerullah Baber received Rs 30 million while the Then IB Chief received Rs 20 million on 28th October.

A large amount was given to Hanif Khan, the then-minister for Kashmir affairs, in June 1990 – Rs20 million on June 12, Rs0.112 million on June 15 and Rs0.1 million on June 18.

At the same time, Naheed Khan, Former Political Secretary to Benazir Bhutto, also received Rs 2.6 million during June 1990 – Rs 0.1 million on 16th June, Rs 0.5 million on 19th June, Rs 1 million on 25th June and Rs 1 million on 30th June.

All receipts of amounts disbursed to Naheed Khan are available in IB’s records.

In his Misappropriations Report, Sardar Noor Elahi Leghari, the Head of Intelligence Bureau between 5th September 1989 to 9th August 1990, said IB's Funds have been deliberately used illegally. Even Benazir Bhutto committed misappropriation, Leghari stated.

All Supplementary Grants given to the IB regarding Secret Funds are distributed with the direction of the Chief Executive (Prime Minister), who is the Competent Authority to deal with these Financial Matters, Leghari wrote in his notes.

This misappropriation is more serious when one considers the circumstances, i.e. the move of No Confidence against the Premier tabled in the National Assembly, Leghari noted.

A total of Rs 70 million were given to the Prime Minister between 25th October and 28th October 1989, despite the fact that a No Confidence Motion was tabled in the Parliament on 26th October, the report adds.

Earlier, Younis Habib, the Master Mind of Mehrangate Scandal, revealed that "In order to make up for mistakes committed in 1990 (and to stop Nawaz Sharif from coming in power), I extended support in 1993 to Pakistan Peoples Party and it came to power again that year".

Election Rigging 1990 - Money was quickly sent to Sharif in 1993 : Younis Habib

The Central Protagonist in the "Mehrangate Scandal", Former Chief of Mehran Bank Younis Habib has revealed that, in order to Rig the 1990 Elections, he quickly sent Rs 2.5 million to Shabaz Sharif through Telegraphic Transfer (TT) on 27th September 1993.

Very quick indeed!

Younis Habib discolsed that he was pressurized by Former President Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Former Army Chief General Mirza Aslam Beg to distribute money among Politicians for Rigging the 1990 Polls. Therefore, he quickly sent Rs 2.5 million to Shabaz Sharif through Telegraphic Transfer on 27th September 1993.

It is worth noted that both personalities allegedly behind the Election Rigging Scandal, either resigned or retired before the the eventual Money Transfer, i.e. Former President Ghulam Ishaq resigned on 18th July 1993 while Former Army Chief General Aslam Beg retired on 16th August 1991.

Referring to Jammat-e-Islami's Pakistan Islamic Front against Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Younis further said "In 1993 I used money and weakened Nawaz Sharif's Vote Position by pitting Maulvis against him".

Habib also disclosed that Aftab Sherpao was given a bigger amount because he was the main figure of Pakistan Peoples Party in NWFP (Now Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa).

Ghosts haunting IJIiates

A lot of Ghosts resurfaced at the Supreme Court to haunt the IJIiates and their Protagonists. As Former Director General ISI & MI Lieutenant General Asad Durrani and the Central Protagonist in the "Mehrangate Scandal", Former Chief of Mehran Bank Younis Habib, blamed Former Army Chief General Mirza Aslam Beg for the Rigging Saga.

During the proceeding of Former Air Marshal Asghar Khan’s Petition, key players of the Mehrangate Scandal are appearing before the Court – and a sense of urgency has engulfed the Case of the 1990 Election Rigging Saga.

Former Chief of Mehran Bank, Younis Habib revealed that, he arranged for Rs 1.48 billion out of which only Rs 140 million were distributed among Political Parties while the rest were invested in Army Welfare Schemes and transferred to account numbers provided by ISI Officials on the directives of General Aslam Beg.

Moreover, Habib tried to save some of his friends and said he could not recall the details of the distributed money. "I am sick now and my memory is weak," Habib told the Court.

However, while talking to journalists, Habib disclosed that Rs 70 million was distributed through Yousuf Memon Advocate.

Also Former Director General Inter-Services Intelligence Lieutenant General Asad Durrani testified that the money was distributed to politicians on the directives of the Then Army Chief General Beg and Then President Ghulam Ishaq Khan.

"I received instruction from the Army Chief General Aslam Beg that a certain Business Community in Karachi had raised some contribution to support the Election Campaign of the IJI (Islami Jamhoori Ittehad), and if I could arrange for it to be distributed as per the Formulas that would be conveyed to me by the Secretary of President Office's Election Cell Roedad Khan," Durrani said in his statement.

Clarifying his stance, Former Army Chief General Mirza Aslam Beg requested that the Court obtain Transaction Records from Banks used for Disbursing the Funds.

According to the off the record Affidavit by General Asad Durani submitted in the Court and Younis Habib's media statements, the money was distributed as follows.

  • Rs 70 million to Jam Sadiq Ali (Plus 150 million & a Luxury Villa for setting up Mehran Bank)
  • Rs 48.5 million to Javed Hashmi
  • Rs 20 million to Altaf Hussain
  • Rs 15 million to Pir Paghara
  • Rs 10 million to Mir Afzal Khan
  • Rs 5.6 million to Journalists (By Lieutenant General Rafaqat)
  • Rs 5 million to Ghulam Mustaf Jatoi
  • Rs 5 million to Jamaat-e-Islami
  • Rs 4 million to Zafarullah Khan Jamali
  • Rs 3.5 million to Mian Nawaz Sharif
  • Rs 2.5 million to Mian Shabaz Sharif
  • Rs 1.5 million to Ijaz-ul-Haq
  • Rs 1.5 million to Humayun Marri
  • Rs 1 million to Abida Hussain
  • Rs 1 million to Kakar
  • Rs 1 million to Nader Mengal
  • Rs 0.75 million to Jam Muhammad Yousuf
  • Rs 0.5 million to K Baloch
  • Rs 0.5 million to Hasil Bizenjo
  • Rs 0.3 million to Maulana Salahuddin
  • Rs 0.25 million to Muhammad Khan Junejo

The Petitioner, Air Marshal Asghar Khan, suggested the Court commence Treason Proceedings against General Beg and his accomplices for subverting the Constitution. As Government Officials, all respondents violated their respective Oaths while rigging the 1990 General Election.

The Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, however, said that "At this stage, all are Innocent before us because there were contradictions in the stances of the respondents".

Earlier, another Senior PTI Leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has also declared Imran Khan's decision to Boycott By-Polls as "Unwise and Wisdomless".

Qureshi is angry at Imran for letting Gillani’s son win the seat without a contest. They say the relationship between him and the PTI Chief were so tense that Qureshi was contemplating parting ways and contesting the upcoming General Elections "Independently".

Qureshi's Brother said, Shah Mahmood Qureshi sometimes regrets his decision of choosing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf over Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).

Moreover, PTI Officials said the Former Minister, who had considerable experience of Parliamentary and Constituency Politics, had been trying to convince Imran not to stay away from the Polls.

"You need to be in the System to change it," Qureshi told Imran, who has been calling himself a Harbinger of Change.

However, as usual Imran remained Adamant on his decision of Boycotting the By-Polls.

Zardari ordered Army to "Hold Fire" during US Raid on Bin Laden

President Asif Ali Zardari not only approved US Raid to kill Osama bin Laden, but he also ordered Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani to "Hold Fire" and let the Americans conduct Operation Geronimo, said Masoor Ejaz.

Mansoor Ejaz, the whistle blower in Memogate Scandal stated in his Cross-Examination that during US Raid in Abbotabad on 2nd May, President Asif Ali Zardari had told Army Chief General Ashfaq Kayani that the US Raid to kill Al-Qaeda Chief Osama bin Laden was conducted with his "Approval".

According to the Documents submitted in the Memogate Commission, the 2nd May Entry at 1:40 says "Office of one Senior Person again received a call from the Office of another Senior Person that no adventure should be undertaken as the Operation was done with his Approval. A Senior Person gives the message that ‘There are few things that I would personally brief you in the morning and nothing should be done now. F-16s should be called back’".

Elaborating, he added: "I can confirm that the two people that are referred to in the document are, as I understood, after reading carefully the Transcript that I have, they were Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani, who received a call from and President Asif Ali Zardari, essentially asking him to stand the F-16s down that were scrambled to take care of the US Choppers present in Pakistani Airspace. As far as I know it was General Kayani and President Zardari in that conversation".
