Ghazi Mumtaz Qadri following the foot steps of Ghazi Ilm-ud-Din Shaheed

Similar to Ghazi Ilum-ud-Din Shaheed Case, the Anti-Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi sentenced Ghazi Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri to death for the Honored-Killing of slain Governor Punjab Salman Taseer for making 'Blasphemous' remarks.

The Court not only rejected all the religious and moral points, but along the same lines with the Ghazi Ilum-ud-Din Shaheed Case it rejected the Extenuating Circumstances, i.e. Ghazi Mumtaz Qadri was riled up by feelings of veneration for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

Moreover, the Judge Pervaiz Ali Shah declared the 'Killing of a Blasphemer' a 'Heinous Crime'.

Earlier Ghazi Mumtaz Qadri confessed to killing Taseer, saying he objected to the politician's calls to amend the Blasphemy Law, which mandates the death penalty for those convicted of defaming the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). And he felt that Taseer habitually made Blasphemous Remarks because of Governor's Immunity to Justice.

Taseer was outspoken in his criticism of the Blasphemy Law and the Verdict in the Asia Bibi Case and tried to protect her by using his Governorship Powers.

However, contrary to Taseer's claim, the Initial International Media Reports prove otherwise. According to CNN, Asia Bibi was convicted of (Nauzubillah) insulting Prophet Muhammad, while  working in a field with several Muslim women in a village near Sheikhupura, Punjab.

She (Nauzubillah) told them the Quran was "fake" and made comments about one of  Prophet Muhammad's wives and about Prophet Muhammad's health in his final days.

During the court proceedings Asia Bibi (Nauzubillah) reaffirmed that she had uttered remarks against Muhammad and she restated her remarks in front of the whole village. She argued in defense of her remarks and made no attempts at an apology.

While in custody, Asia Bibi again admitted to the comments and then told other female prisoners that she was "proud" of her remarks (Nauzubillah). During the trial she did not repeat her comments but never denied uttering them as well.

Many from her village and almost her entire village council testified against her as to having heard her make the remarks and reaffirm them twice.

Given the established facts against Asia Bibi, Salman Taseer's act of trying to protect a Proven Blasphemer, is thought to be a Blasphemy in itself.

Update 11th October: Islamabad High Court bench led by Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman has stayed the implementation on Ghazi Malik Mumtaz Qadri's Death Orders.

Former Chief Justice, Lahore High Court, Khawaja Muhammad Sharif is leading the panel of lawyers defending Ghazi Malik Mumtaz Qadri in the appeal which he filed against his conviction for killing former Governor Punjab Salman Taseer in Islamabad High Court.
