For the first time in decades, the Pakistani Nation has begin fasting on the same day. Thanks to the Chairman of Official Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, for accepting Moon Sighting Witnesses for remote parts of the country, and Head of Self-Claimed Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Sahabuddin Popalzai, for not announcing Moon Sighting in advance with Saudi Arabia.
However, it needed a lot of back-channel work on part of Kyber Pakhtunkhuwa Government to convince Mufti Sahabuddin Popalzai for not announcing Moon Sighting with Saudi Arabia.
As, the Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa Government formed a Committee of Islamic Scholars to mull over starting Ramadan on same date with rest of the country.
This Commitee comprises representatives of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa Government with local private Moon Sighting Committees of Peshawar, Charsadda and Mardan.
This newly formed committee reached on consensus first, over sighting of upcoming Ramadan moon, and after that they unanimously decided to followed the Official Ruet-e-Hilal Committee decision.
